Alexa Doran Profile.

Alexa Doran let out a loud shout, and another sound followed hers. She looked at her son Dante, whose shriek echoed hers, a smile painted on his lips.

Only 4 years old, he didn’t fully understand the implications of his mother’s excitement. He didn’t know that Doran had just won her biggest writing award yet—the 2020 May Sarton New Hampshire Poetry Prize. Regardless, it’s this innocent joy that Doran remembers most.

Hannah Kealy Profile.

Inclusivity, diversity, and individuality: those were Hannah Kealy’s and her cofounders’ main objectives when starting FSU’s student-run lifestyle magazine, Strike, in 2016. As a junior majoring in editing, writing, and media at Florida State University, Kealy had been searching for an organization that helped boost her portfolio and, more importantly, gave her a sense of community and inclusion.

Today’s lecture is about Thomas Wyatt. “Surely, some ancient white dude,” you think. “He’s actually a lot like Drake,” Dr. Jensen, your professor says, and you perk up at the mention of your favorite rapper, the thought of coffee long gone.
